Master Gears and Rolling Gears are Precision measuring tools. Master Gears are used for single and double flank inspection and runout measurement of gearings while Rolling Gears are used to measure noise or detect and reduce dents, burs, nicks before the assembly of gears.

Master Gears are produced to the highest standards using CNC grinding machines and inspection equipment. This specialized technology allows us to achieve the highest quality at very competitive prices. We can also supply precision ground master worms for checking worm gears.

All master gears provided are first designed in the Computer Aided Design Software, which is developed by us internally to provide rapid technical data and drawings of master gears to suit the gear specification provided by customers.

It has been common practice in the gear industry to order master gears with standard proportions of addendum, dedendum and half pitch tooth thickness. This can lead to problems when meshing with the component gear, particularly when the component gear has a small number of teeth. In some cases the addendum of the master gear may need modification to insure correct conjugate action to the form diameter of the component. It is recommended that wherever possible the design of the master gear is developed relative to the actual component specification.

Master gears produced in bearing steel or Die Steel do not withstand temperatures exceeding 450°C and are therefore unsuitable for coating. Protective coatings may only be applied to HSS master gears to increase the life and surface finish of the master gears.

Master gears wear with use and must therefore be reground to ensure quality performance. HTI is well equipped for this task.

Diameter ranges from 20 - 350 mm
Maximum Tooth width can be 150 mm
Helix angle ranges from 0 - 90 degrees

All master gears are engraved according to DIN 3970, or with any requested customer-specific data, and bear an individual tracking number enabling them to be carefully monitored throughout the whole production process.

Thread gauges are useful to determine the thread pitch and diameter of bolts and machine screws.

• Having diameters from 4mm to 20mm and thread pitches from 0.8 to 6.0. This comes with metric ruler for determining bolt length.
